The answer to the riddle I posted earlier is below. The first wise man who is called upon counts the number of blue hats he can see.  If it is an odd number, he says “blue.”  If it is even, he says “red.”  (The code is agreed upon during the previous night.)  Every other wise man can then use this information to correctly guess his cap color.
